Maureen Johnson is a recent graduate of UCLA's MFA screenwriting program.  She has two works-for-hire currently in development, including a Europe-based romcom with a producer connected with Pathe.  Another project, The Lotto King, has received substantial interest in both America and Australia.  Another script in development, a modern-day parody of a Jane Austen novel, is receiving interest in England.

Maureen also has earned numerous awards and placements in screenplay contests, including being a double-semifinalist in the 2009 Nicholl competition.  While at UCLA, Maureen won the Bridget and Bob Colleary Award for Best Romantic Comedy for a script entitled Life’s A Drag, about a drag queen who thinks he’s going through menopause.  She also earned the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship.  Other awards include semifinaling in the 2011 Expo Screenwriting Contest (Wedding Belles), and finaling in the 2010 Screenplay Search Competition for a romcom entitled Bellini’s.  Maureen prefers romcom though enjoys period/historical pieces.  Her award-winning script, Michelangelo and Davide, has been likened to Shakespeare in Love.

Maureen also excels in TV writing, being nominated for the Humanitas Student Fellowship Award in 2009 and earning a top-5% placement for the 2007 Warner Bros. Television Workshop for a spec script of Two-And-A-Half Men.
