Maureen Johnson is a recent graduate of UCLA's MFA screenwriting program.  She has two works-for-hire currently in development, including a Europe-based romcom with a producer connected with Pathe.  Another project, The Lotto King, has received substantial interest in both America and Australia.  Another script in development, a modern-day parody of a Jane Austen novel, is receiving interest in England. 

Maureen also has earned numerous awards and placements in screenplay contests, including being a double-semifinalist in the 2009 Nicholl competition.  While at UCLA, Maureen won the Bridget and Bob Colleary Award for Best Romantic Comedy for a script entitled Life’s A Drag, about a drag queen who thinks he’s going through menopause.  She also earned the Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship.  Other awards include semifinaling in the 2011 Expo Screenwriting Contest (Wedding Belles), and finaling in the 2010 Screenplay Search Competition for a romcom entitled Bellini’s.  Maureen prefers romcom though enjoys period/historical pieces.  Her award-winning script, Michelangelo and Davide, has been likened to Shakespeare in Love.

Maureen also excels in TV writing, being nominated for the Humanitas Student Fellowship Award in 2009 and earning a top-5% placement for the 2007 Warner Bros. Television Workshop for a spec script of Two-And-A-Half Men.

STEPHEN WITKIN

Stephen currently lives in Los Angeles where his screenplay, Off Ramp To Babylon was in development with HBO and Killer Films. He presently has features, Miss Universe and Return To The Nest under option and his comedy screenplay, Maniacs was featured at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival and is now in development. TV credits include the TV movie Love-Struck and Cable Ace Award nomination for The Max Movie Show for Cinemax. In the world of theater, Stephen’s musical, The Fabulist, won the Richard Rodgers Award showcased at the York Theater in New York, Village Theater in Washington and the Global Search For New Musicals in Cardiff, Wales. He also wrote the book for the Off-Broadway cult hit, Prom Queens Unchained at the legendary Village Gate, Can­dles, Snow and Mistletoe at the Palace Theater on Broadway, A Century of Enter­tainment at Radio City Music Hall, Flying at Caesar’s Hotel, nominated for Entertainer of the Year Award,  Ain’t We Got Fun and Ladies of the Chorus at the Sands, the hit musical, Eight to the Bar; Ye Gods!, Musical Chairs, Robin Hood,  Snow White and the Magnificent Seven and Cinderella. Stephen is presently writing book and lyrics for, Stupitidy -The Musical.

DENNIS SHINNERS - ONE IN TEN SCREENPLAY CONTEST WINNER


We would like to congratulate the 2011 ONE IN TEN SCREENPLAY CONTEST winner, DENNIS SHINNERS.

Dennis Shinners grew up in New Jersey, attended NYU’s film school and has called the city of New York home ever since.  He is a writer, producer and director of on-air promos who has done high profile, award-winning campaigns for Nickelodeon, Nick @ Nite, Spike TV, Discovery Channel, Disney Channel, TV Land and the Oxygen Network.  He’s recently completed two short films, “Area X” and “GO-GO”, which have enjoyed domestic and international festival runs and distribution deals.

Dennis wrote BARRIO BOY, the 1st place winner in the One In Ten Screenplay Contest to be his feature directorial debut.
